Archaeology
Do you ever do a search for someone you've known in the past just for kicks to see what comes up? I did that yesterday and found a musician who's Christian Rock Band I was basically a groupie of. Our ministry was to go around with the band to their venues, parks, coffeehouses, schools, etc. and support and pray for the message of the band and those who were hearing it. It brought back so many visual and feeling memories of that time (69 thru about 72). The music was hard rock and exciting and spoke to the spiritual need we all had for Jesus. But for me, it was mixed up with the longing I had for the lead guitar player. After all, I was young. The upshot of that is a whole 'nother story. Suffice it to say there's been a lot of "water under the bridge" since then, but feelings long buried sometimes have a way of resurfacing and carrying you back to a more innocent time.

I've joined the community of bloggers. How exciting! I'm excited to see who I'll meet in this format, and to express my thoughts, opinions, experiences and feelings. This week I found out that my long time pastor and spiritual Dad passed away. Some of you might know him, as he blessed, influenced and encouraged many people. His name is Drell Butler. I'm sure the Lord is saying to him now, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." My heart and prayers go out to his family, Gloria, his wife, Judy, Floyd, Terry, Randy, Greg, Leslie, and all of their families. Memories come flooding back and I am reminded of Dad Drell's absolute passion to know and honor Jesus Christ, and to impart that to others. That will stay with me forever. Dad, I'll miss you, but I'll always carry you in my heart and I'll see you again. If you see my brother Dan, please give him my love. Anita
